Milestones
1962
Source Services Corporation Founded
The company that became Source Services Corporation began in 1962 as three separate entities. It was the brainchild of Dave Grimes and Bob Trotter, two IBM salesman located in Chicago who realized the first thing the customer ask for once they purchased a computer was someone to run it.
1966
Romac & Associates Founded
In 1966, two more former IBM employees, Ray Roy and Frank McCabe played a role in Kforce’s history. According to Bob Bond it was Ray Roy who left IBM to enter the staffing business and started Romac with the blessing of his manager Frank McCabe.
1986
Introduced technology flex service offering
In 1986, Dave Dunkel saw a great opportunity and joined forces with a local competitor in the Tampa market to launch our Technology Flex business. It was led by Dick Maddock whom our “Spirit of Kforce” award is named after.
1995
Traded on Nasdaq as initial public offering
In 1995, we launched our first public offering. We used the capital for 30+ acquisitions to build out our national footprint and serve large clients across multiple geographics.
1998
Romac acquired Source Services Corporation
On February 2, 1998, it was announced that Romac International, Inc. would acquire Source Services Corporation in a pooling of interests business combination. On April 21, 1998, this merger was consummated and the two companies became one.
2001
Changed corporate name to Kforce Inc.
The two merged companies Romac International and Source Services Corporation became Kforce Inc.
2007
Reached $1 billion in unaudited annual revenues for the first time
On December 27, 2007 Kforce announced it surpassed the $1 billion mark in unaudited annual revenues for the first time in the firm’s history.
2009
Formed International Talent Solutions
In 2009, we launched International Talent Solutions leveraging our experience in international nursing and transitioned those efforts into technology.
2013
Divested non-technology and finance and accounting service offerings
In 2013, we narrowed our focus and divested non-strategic assets, and really began to focus on Technology and Finance and Accounting. It was this year that we set goal to become the gold standard in the staffing industry.
2015
Introduced solutions focus of Advanced Services
In 2015, we introduced our solutions focus as a part of Advanced Services. Greg Jones was brought on as the first Advanced Services employee.
2017
Ranked in top 5 Best Professional Search Firms by Forbes for second consecutive year
In 2017, Kforce placed in the top five of Forbes’ 2017 America’s Best Professional Recruiting Firms list based on recruiter, candidate, and HR Manager recommendations.
2018
Refreshed mission, vision, brand promise and tagline
In 2018, we announced a new mission, vision, brand promise and tagline. This was an evolution of the firm’s more than 50-year history.
2019
Named #1 most recognized staffing firm among technology consultants by Staffing Industry Analysts
In 2019, we ranked as the number one most recognized brand by IT consultants in a report published by Staffing Industry Analysts (SIA).
2020
Moved fully remote overnight on March 17
In March 2020, we moved our workforce fully remote overnight in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Following that, we were one of the first major Tampa Bay employers to commit to a hybrid work environment.
2021
Announced new HQ and Office Occasional operating model
In 2021, our President Joe Liberatore explains the firm’s new office occasional model. “Our new home in Midtown Tampa is ‘office occasional’ in real life,” Liberatore said. “It’s this seamless movement between work and life.”
