STEM Career Spotlight: Finance
Sarah French, Director of Financial Planning & Analysis
I just celebrated my 10-year Kforce anniversary in December!
I help lead Kforce’s Financial Planning and Analysis team. My role is pretty far-reaching, but what it mainly boils down to is giving advice about money. That could be anything from creating a report about how much the company is earning, or predicting what our profits will be, or consulting on the financial decisions between Kforce and our clients. The work our team does helps Kforce make many important decisions, so it’s very rewarding.
I really enjoy working with so many different people. Everyone at Kforce needs to interact with our team in some capacity, which keeps things interesting – no day is the same!
I’ve always been good at math, so by studying finance I could naturally lean on that strength. I also realized that finance careers can act as a launchpad for your professional goals. Working in finance requires a wide range of skills and knowledge that can easily be applied to other areas and positions, so having that foundation is helpful for all kinds of career growth.
Don’t be afraid to pursue them! STEM careers are the way of the future, and they’re not going anywhere. There are all kinds of exciting STEM opportunities emerging every day, so go forth and explore what’s out there.
