STEM Career Spotlight: Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
Jerry Gates, Senior Director of Emerging Technologies
I have been with Kforce for 10 years.
I lead our innovation team in finding new, forward-thinking ways of doing things. We get to explore different technologies, learn all about them, and test them out to see if they can help where we need them to. We focus on how we can use different tools, like artificial intelligence and machine learning, to help Kforce be successful. For example, we can use Internet bots to help us sort and study candidate information – this makes it easier for our recruiters to match candidates to their dream jobs.
I love that each day brings new opportunities and challenges. It’s fun and interesting to put together the pieces of the puzzle to see where we can make things easier for our clients, candidates and employees.
I have always loved math, and that passion drove me to software development because I found similarities in the logic of solving math problems and the logic needed to create software. That inspired me to try and find answers in data for companies and how we can understand and learn from it. I love that some of the key aspects of artificial intelligence and machine learning, two major areas of my field, are math, software and data – all things I’m interested in!
Fall in love with learning and stay curious about how and why things work the way they do. There’s never been an easier time to learn with so much information at our fingertips!
