In the wake of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria Kforce employees rise to fundraising challenge

Kforce announced today that through the efforts of its employees, it has met its goal to donate $1 million to the relief and recovery of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria.

“With a strong presence throughout the Florida and Houston areas and with many employee’s loved ones in Puerto Rico, our Kforce family was personally impacted by these natural disasters. I’m proud of our great people for answering the call and aggressively meeting this goal to help so many in need,” said Kforce CEO and Chairman, David Dunkel.  

Kforce partnered with the American Red Cross to allocate $800,000 in donations specifically to hurricane relief. With the support of donors, the Red Cross provided tremendous relief efforts in the aftermath of these natural disasters.

“Thanks to the generosity of donors such as Kforce, the Red Cross was able to support those affected by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria with food, shelter and the necessary humanitarian supplies to ensure people were safe,” said Don Herring, Chief Development Officer at the American Red Cross. “We are so grateful for Kforce’s support as we worked together to provide hope and help to people in need.”

As an emergency response to Hurricane Maria, Kforce donated $200,000 in funds to provide significant contribution to the Flight of Hope, which chartered a plane packed by a dozen Kforce associates and Tampa Bay partners to Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.

Impact by the Numbers

• In the first month following Hurricane Harvey, American Red Cross with its partners:
  • Served more than 3.1 million meals and snacks
  • Distributed over 1 million relief items
  • Provided more than 413,000 overnight shelter stays
  • Made over 98,000 health and mental health contacts
• In the first month following Hurricane Irma, American Red Cross:
  • Served more than 1.5 million meals and snacks
  • Distributed over 1 million relief items
  • Provided nearly 650,000 overnight shelter stays
  • Made over 49,000 health and mental health contacts
• The Flight of Hope united community partners across Tampa Bay to:
  • Deliver over 200 generators, 5,000 pounds of medical supplies, 200 water filtration systems, 2,000 bottles of oil, 200 gas cans and 100 packs of household items
  • Run a triage at a local university in Puerto Rico, so doctors and nurses aboard the plane could see nearly 50 patients in a span of three hours
  • Transport 44 Puerto Rican residents in need of medical care to Florida
• A federal agency needed 5,000 bilingual call center support resources after the devastating impact of the hurricanes
  • Over 200 Kforce recruiters sourced and presented 1,000 candidates in 17 days
  • The 550 consultants placed aided hundreds of thousands of people affected by the hurricanes

In addition, Kforce provided emergency shelter, food, supplies and other support to its employees affected by these natural disasters. “Even though it was during a complicated time, I was fully informed on my next steps and felt truly provided for. I received exceptional service and was made to feel important,” said one Kforce consultant in the wake of Hurricane Irma.
