South Florida Businesses and Universities Inspire Kids at STEM Fair


Kforce Kids' STEM Fair makes meaningful impact on local families through interactive experiences

Weston, FL – February 13, 2020 - On Sunday, February 9, the Weston YMCA Family Center flooded with families for the Kforce Kids' STEM Fair where local businesses and universities engaged over 150 young learners in a diverse spectrum of activities in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Activities led by 15 community partners taught kids in kindergarten through eighth grade about STEM through robot racing, an animal encounter, Lego building, candy atoms and much more.

In addition to hands-on activities, STEM experts served as role models to the kids, inspiring them to learn more about jobs available in STEM fields.

“It was so fun seeing the kids’ eyes light up with each of the activities and learning about different STEM fields. It’s important to show kids at a young age that STEM jobs are available to them so that passion can grow into a future career,” said Thais Lage, Ground Support Equipment Engineer and a STEM expert at the fair.

An estimated 65% of kids entering elementary school will end up working in jobs that don’t exist today and they will need a foundation in STEM education to succeed.
